Annual WalkAThon
Since its inception in 2006, the St. Mary of the Assumption Walkathon has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for our school. This overall success speaks highly of our SMA families for successfully rallying our community, parishioners, family, and friends to help support our school’s mission. We are truly grateful for this continued dedication and commitment and look forward to further enhancing our ability to provide the most state-of-the-art resources to all of our students.
Each year, the campaign commences in early February with parents and students reaching out to family, friends, and area businesses to ask for donations. In return, the school community walks for one hour on school grounds in appreciation of all our sponsors. The walk day is typically held in May and is a fun day that many students and alumni of SMA recall with the fondest of memories.

- 30 graphing calculators and recharging stations for Jr. High algebra lessons
- Gloforge Machine for STEM classes and Makerspace club use
- Built an 8x10 foot greenhouse with shelves and gutter system to supply rain barrel with watering needs
- Created new concrete outdoor learning space in our courtyard with six (6) new tables
- Teacher Pay Teacher (TpT) access for teachers to enhance their classroom curriculums
- Teacher classroom needs including rugs, mailboxes, vacuums, bookshelves, and treasure chest items
- Recess equipment (basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, footballs, kickballs, chalk, air pump)
- Art room glazes and clay for pottery kiln
- Science needs for Jr. High including mitosis slides, MOHS hardness scale kit, incubator, totes and small water bottles
- Performing Arts enhancements including dance scarves, drum, rhythm sticks for music classes as well as new lighting and rechargeable batteries and charger for drama productions, and a used second piano for music productions
- Cost sharing on pottery kiln for Art room
- Classroom updates for all-day Pre-K and primary classrooms
- Three new water fountains with water-bottle filling capabilities
- 130 new Chromebooks for 1:1 technology for grades 4-8
- Playground updates
- New vinyl fencing around perimeter of school
- Technology upgrades including SMART Boards for all classrooms, 60 initial Chromebooks and carts for transporting, software and TVs, iPads
- Teacher laptops and training sessions (Chromebooks and technology integration)
- Extensive security improvements in the classrooms and throughout the school (new school PA system, integrated walkie talkies for each classroom, security cameras and monitors)
- Primary wing restroom renovations
- Assisted with the financial cost of updating Farrell Hall
- Financial earmark for front of school renovations
- Other school sponsored programs like scholarships, field trips and much more

retail rewards programs
The following retail stores offer school cash programs. More information can be found on each of the program’s websites. To obtain the school ID’s for the programs below, please contact school office at 440-255-9781.
- Box Tops - Collection sheets can be sent to school in your child(ren)’s folder or dropped off in the drop off bins near the front office at the School and Church.
- Heinens Rewards – Register your Heinen’s Tasteful Rewards card every August to have Heinen’s make donations to our school.
- Giant Eagle - Register your Giant Eagle Advantage Card and earn points with every purchase that can be redeemed by our school.
- Coca-Cola Give - Enter codes from your Coca-Cola products and earn funds for our school.
Scholastic Book Fair
Each year St. Mary of the Assumption School hosts a Scholastic Book Fair in our library. Students are invited to purchase books to help our school earn scholastic dollars towards new books! More information will be coming soon for the 2022-2023 school year.
